November Dive Against Debris Counts

On November 22nd Elizabeth ran her first Dive Against Debris event since joining AQUA Dive and Water Sports after which she committed to a weekly clean up dive, every Friday afternoon, until our surrounding reefs are free of debris.

In November we conducted two clean up events, the first removing 19.5kg of trash and on the second a further 43.4kg - making our November 2024 total 62.9kg.

Our biggest debris problems are cement bags and plastic bags, which cover corals and prevent them from photosynthesising, fishing line which gets trapped in coral. and damages the polyps and plastic bottles.

A huge thank you to our partners, Atoll Marine Centre and Atoll Volunteer, as well as all the incredible volunteers who joined our dives and made this possible.
